ANNA KRISTINE SOPHIE NIELSDATTERS WORLD

Stacks Image 3304

Anna Kristine Sophie has lived all her life on Sjællands Odde, and from 1921 until her death in 1966, on the property (matr. 9c Yderby) built in 1870 and taken over by Lars Peter Larsen in 1921. Anna Kristine Sophie and Lars Peter married on March 8, 1921 and had their only joint child, Niels Poul, July 16, 1921. The picture here shows Valborg, Anna Kristine Sophie and Poul

PETER KROMANS MOTHERS MOTHERS PARENTS, ANNA KRISTINE SOPHIE NEILSDATTER AND NO KNOWN CHILDFATHER

Anna Kristine Sophie Larsen is my great grandmother. She was born November 25, 1879 on matr. 10h Yderby which was built by her father Niels Larsen in 1876 where he buys the plot.

This is how matr. 10 h (Oddenvej 195) looks like in 2010..

Anna Kristine Sophie has 2 children. My grandmother Anna Valborg 11 March 1905 and Niels Poul 16 July 1921 (read more about Poul here). Thus, there is more than 16 years of age difference between the two. Of course, this fact belongs to a story.

In June 1904 Anna Kristine Sophie was a young girl of 24 years, living alone with her mother Ane Sørensdatter on matr. 10h in Yderby. The two had probably lived alone together since about 1892-94 where Anna Kristine Sophie's youngest brother, Karl Laurits, probably flew from the nest as a 14-16 year old young man.

Anna Kristine Sophie is neither married nor engaged at this time. She probably "devoted her life" to caring for her (very strong) mother Ane Sørensen - implied, it is probably not unlikely that Ane, whose husband is dead at this time, has even had a big finger in deciding which men Anne Katrine Sophie should be around and which she should definitely not be around.

In this June 1904, however, Anna Kristine Sophie becomes pregnant with Anna Valborg. Persistent stories in the family claim it happened to one of the men who who wandered the country roads. This "story" will fit well that Ane has a strong finger in the game. Because, after all, it is very difficult, not to say impossible, to find out who the grandfather, in the form of this "road-rushing swindler", really was. However, Ane's otherwise complete control over everything would be bad for her to let her young daughter and caretaker become pregnant with a random "rushing sweep". I will therefore allow myself to question whether this story is true. We will probably never be able to solve it, but I have a suggestion for another story, which may be more likely - although it also contains more adventurous quality elements.

But first just a few facts about Anna Valborg's birth and baptism.
Anna Valborg was born at Odden on March 11, 1905, and baptized at Odden church on April 21, 1905.
Below is the church book record from her baptism.

There are two very interesting things about this record. First, there is no mention of any child father at all, which must be said to be rather unusual. Usually, as a minimum, a laid-off child father will always be indicated. But the fact that there is no child father at all fits very well with the story of "road wandering guy".

The other interesting thing is that Anna Valborg was home baptized on April 21, and shown in the church a month later. Of course, this may be because mother and / or child have been weak after birth, but it may also be because Ane, who was a widow and not completely unknown in the relatively small community in Yderby on Odden, needed to "persuade" parish priest Pedersen in Odden church so that there would be no mention of any child father at all in the church book. Because Ane needed the story of "the rushing sweetheart" to be as likely as possible throughout. And this is actually where my bid for another story begins.

To understand the context of my thinking, we need to go a little further in history first.

Anna Kristine Sophie gets married once in her life. It happens on March 8, 1921 in Nr. Asmindrup church, where she gets married to Lars Peter Larsen, with whom she has her second child, namely Niels Poul, who was born on July 16, 1921 and baptized on August 28 in Odden church.

Anna Kristine Sophie is about 40 years old when she gets married to Lars Peter and gets Poul.

It is not unimportant to mention here that Ane first died in March 1928, at the age of 84. Nor is it unimportant to mention that Anna Kristine and Lars Peter do not get married in Odden church, where everything else was done.

My thesis is that the two things are inextricably linked - and that Ane still has complete control over the course of events, and she in no way wants the two of them to be wed in Odden church.

Lars Peter has been married previously, with Anna Cecilie Andersen. They are married on December 29, 1897 in Odden church. Lars Peter and Anna Cecilie have 3 children together, and Anna Cecilie dies on Skt. Joseph's Hospital in Copenhagen on July 22, 1911. The three children are Valdemar born August 21, 1897, Valborg born December 8, 1900, and Alma Kristine born May 16, 1905.
This means that Anna Cecilie and Lars Peter have children together while Anna Kristine Sophie gets Anna Valborg (Anna Valborg was born in March 1905 and Alma Kristine was born in May 1905).

I believe that Anna Kristine Sophie and Lars Peter have been in love from their youth, but that Ane has not found Lars Peter worthy of Anna Kristine Sophie, so she has with all her power opposed the connection. And, as mentioned, Ane possessed a not insignificant personal strength and impact. However, this has not been able to remove the young people's crush, but it has allowed Lars Peter to marry another side - namely with Anna Cecilie. A marriage that probably wasn't what he wanted to do, but one should get married - and so he was. But Anna Kristine Sophie and Lars Peter's love never faded and they continued, while Lars Peter was married to Cecilie, to meet in secret.

From this was, in addition to the two's undivided joy of being together, Anna Valborg also created. Obviously this could not come to light. Partly because Lars Peter was married to another side and Anna Kristine Sophie was unmarried, and partly because Ane had already unselected Lars Peter on Anna Kristine Sophie's behalf.

Therefore, the story of "the dreaded swindler", and therefore Ane did not want Lars Peter and Anna Kristine Sophie to be wed in Odden church, which despite her high age at this time still had the power to trump through. But, after all, she had not had enough strength to maintain that the two would not marry each other eventually. Here, the love between the two eventually won.

A "sweet" story and, as mentioned, also pure thought of my side. But maybe not quite unlikely anyway. A few facts may support the story a bit.

The census of February 1916 (the pictures above) shows that Anna Valborg and Ane (her grandmother) live alone in matr. 10h, and that Anna Kristine Sophie lives with Lars Peter and his daughter Alma in matr. 9f, where Anna Kristine is registered as housekeeper. Thus, Anna Kristine Sophie moves in with Lars Peter at some point between his first wife's death in July 1911 and February 1916, thus moving from her own daughter as she leaves to her mother, to live with Lars Peter and his daughter. Although the two matrices are quite close to each other, it can still be said that it points slightly in a certain direction.

We also know that Anna Kristine Sophie and Jens Peter live together in 1921. In February, when the census (picture below) is made, they live in Nr. Asmindrup, and they still live with Lars Peter's daughter Alma (who has now turned 16).

.... while Anna Kristine Sophie's daughter Anna Valborg (my grandmother) has been given a position as maid at the bakery at Odden (pictured below).

In addition, we also know that Anna Kristine Sophie and Lars Peter will be married on March 8, 1921 in Nr. Asmindrup Church.

Anna Kristine Sophie and Lars Peter are allowed to be married for approx. 20 years. Lars Peter dies on February 11, 1941 (pictures below).

Lars Peter's probate after his death in 1941 gives no clear answer as to whether Anna Valborg is his daughter. Anna Kristine Sophie lives on matr. 9c on Odden (pictured at the top of the page) with Poul until her death at the age of almost 87 years on 13.10.1966, when Poul buries her in Lars Peters Family Tomb at Odden cemetery.

So, unfortunately, neither the story of “the road wanderer, nor the story of the young love being sealed later in life, can be definitively confirmed at this time. But I continue to work tirelessly, and if others want to contribute then it is very welcome. Please send me an email if you like. You can safely use the contact form on the "Welcome" page.

Both Anna Kathrine Sophie and Lars Peter, as well as Niels Poul and Lars Peter's children are probably buried in the family grave site here.
